Yesterday evening’s party is a Kanakuk favorite for more reasons than one.
Kampers decked out in pirate gear and had all afternoon to become the very best K-1 pirates they could be! Cabins travelled together to twelve awesome stations like “Bomb the Ship”, where kampers defended their gold coins (with water balloons) from the counselors just off shore in canoes! Then they practiced their aim at Pineapple Archery and dug for buried treasure in the Taneycomo sand. The fun went on and on and after each cabin visited all the stations it was dinnertime. And last night’s dinner definitely marked the spot! The Kuk and Komo meals were combined for a picnic of grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and cherry cobbler, every pirate’s favorite meal! Yesterday was one of the warmest days of the summer so following the meal all the pirates cooled off in the pool while they lounged and watched a movie. But when we thought the evening was coming to an end, the real party began when each cabin was given a treasure map leading to a final dance party to end the night! It was a fantastic evening and an amazing first party for our new 14-day kampers!
