K-Seven Friendship Talk 2016

The second all-kamp talk our Kampers hear is about friendship.  Our K-Seven director, Keith Chancey, addresses the value of friendships and how we are called to live among our friends.

The talk is centered around Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."  Friendships are important, but even more important than our relationships with our friends is our relationship with God.  When we prioritize our relationship with God, we gain the peace of God and no longer struggle with FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).  FOMO has become a very prevelant issue in this generation and we want to affirm our kids that choosing to pursue God first does mean that they will have to step away from negative situations, but it does not mean that have to miss out on friendships.  A true friend is someone who is pushing you towards the cross every day and is also "offering their body as a living sacrifice" and being "transformed by the renewing of their mind."

Kamp friendships are special because they are founded in Christ.  We have the awesome opportunity to watch the Lord bring kids from all parts of the country together and build these foundational friendships.  Kamp friends are the best friends because Kamp friends are forever!
