This week Richard Marks, director at Kids Across America, spoke out of Luke 10:25-37.
We as humans have a desire to justify ourselves before the Lord and earn our salvation. It is true today, and it was true while Jesus was doing His ministry on Earth. We see that in this text. The expert in the law who addresses Jesus asks how he can attain eternal life. Jesus' response is incredibly interesting.
Ultimately in this text, we see that the law is summed up in the command "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." What does it mean to love your neighbor as yourself? Jesus gives us the answer with the picture of the Good Samaritan. We are called to love people and serve them selflessly. Pray that the Holy Spirit would help you see opportunities to do this.
