The Lord is GOOD

What happens at Kamp stays with us, not just as memories but as life lessons. Some of the many lessons we learn are how to overcome fear, takes leap of faith and make lifelong friendships. At the core of these lessons, there is a truth - that the Lord is good and we can trust Him! This is a truth that can carry us through any season of life, especially when it is not making a lot of sense. In life’s tougher moments, we are more likely to let our countenance slip, allow fear creep to in and forget He is faithful and good. However, it is also in these moments that we have a choice— we can choose the “normal” way of the world and carry on by our own strength, or we can choose to believe in and repeat these four words: The Lord is GOOD.

This simple truth can change how we conduct ourselves at work, in sports and at home. We can stand on this promise by holding His goodness deep in our hearts. Today, we want to share ways you can continue to see His goodness in your daily life through His Word.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

The Lord recognizes where you are and is with you during every season of life. He sees you and is working for your good, just like this passage promises. Even when we cannot see Him, He promises to be working for us in every outcome and cultivating our hearts to be who He intends for us to be. We can rest in the truth that no matter what our circumstance might be He is for us! Is there an area of your life that you have a hard time believing He is working on your behalf? Start today by praying a simple prayer to hand that over to Him and asking Him to reveal ways He is working for your good.

“Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.” Psalm 37:3

Take time every day to journal the good that is in your life and what you are thankful for. The more we make an effort to develop an eye to see His favor, we are able to recognize His presence in the details of our lives. This habit can also help us build trust during hard times when we aren’t sure what the outcome will be but we know that He will always provide. Ask Him to reveal areas of your life where He is working and how you can come alongside what He is doing.

“God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.” Genesis 1:4

Jesus has conquered death and declared an end to darkness. He spread His light across the world, putting an end to fear. Isaiah 41:10 tells us, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” The Lord’s goodness stands against our anxious thoughts, letting us live full lives in His reassurance. Whenever we begin to have thoughts about worry or anxiety, recite this Bible verse out loud.

“The Lord is good to all. And His mercies are over all His works.” Psalm 145:9

In Genesis 1:31, God proclaimed all of His creation to be “very good.” The God who created the heavens, the stars and every living thing on earth looks at each one of us and calls us  “very good.” God loves us all, no matter what. We are even told in His word that there is nothing that can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). His love is so big and great that we believe everyone should know it. How have you experienced God’s love this week? Write a note to Him thanking Him for His love for you.

God’s goodness helps us push past fears, insecurities and doubt. His goodness allows  us to be confident in our identity as His Children (John 1:12) and lets His love transform our hearts. His goodness changes us.
